Photography During Your Orlando Trip

Many visitors to Orlando plan professional photography sessions while they are in town visiting attractions such as Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando or nearby beaches.  However, rather than taking photos in crowded theme parks (Please note:  in any event, professional photography is not permitted in Disney Parks), vacation sessions are usually held at resorts and nearby scenic parks and gardens.  This allows families to enjoy a calm and enjoyable vacation photography experience while capturing beautiful portraits.

Best Locations for Vacation Photos in Orlando

One of the biggest advantages of booking a vacation photographer is choosing a location that offers beautiful scenery without the crowds of the theme parks.  Orlando is full of parks, nature preserves, trails, lakes, forests, natural springs, and botanical gardens.  No matter what vibe you're going for in your vacation photos, Central Florida has something to offer everyone.

Some of the most popular locations include:

If you’re unsure which location fits your style, I’ll help you choose the best spot based on lighting, accessibility, and the look you want for your photos.  You can also explore more ideas in my guide to the best photo locations in Orlando.

What to Expect During Your ORLANDO VACATION PORTRAIT Session

Let's start with the obvious, since you're on vacation, you're hopefully having fun, right?! This means you should already be relaxed, making my job easy! But even if you're not, my vacation photo sessions are designed to feel natural and effortless to keep you in that care-free vacation vibe. I will guide you with simple prompts and natural posing so that your photos feel authentic and not staged. In fact, our vacation sessions feel more like a fun day at the parks than a family photo shoot. You can even wear fun outfits like everyone in Hawaiian shirts! (hint: someone please do this!). All kidding aside, the focus is on capturing real interactions, laughter, and genuine connection in order to avoid stiff, rigid, and uncomfortable poses. Sessions will typically last around 30 minutes to one hour, giving us enough time for a variety of backgrounds and moments without feeling too rushed.

Why Book a Vacation Photographer Instead of Theme Park Photos

Many families consider taking photos inside theme parks during their Orlando vacation, but professional photography sessions are not allowed in most Central Florida theme parks, at least not without special permission.

That’s why I recommend nearby resort locations or outdoor spaces. These types of locations offer:

  • More space and privacy
  • Better lighting conditions
  • A relaxed, stress-free environment
  • A mix of posed and candid moments

This creates a much more enjoyable experience for families, especially with young children. Learn more about Orlando family photography services.

  • Outdoor lifestyle photography sessions

Whether your trip is a once-in-a-lifetime visit or an annual tradition, these sessions help you capture meaningful moments together.

Tips for Planning Your Orlando Vacation Photo Session

If you’re visiting Orlando and thinking about booking a session, here are a few tips:

  • Schedule early in your trip in case weather changes require flexibility
  • Plan around sunset for the best lighting, but other times of day can be suitable also, depending on the location.  For example, John's Lake Conservation Area has tons of large trees that offer plenty of shade.
  • Choose comfortable, coordinated outfits with neutral or soft colors
  • Avoid busy schedules on the same day, so your session feels relaxed
  • Avoid scheduling your session on the same day that you are visiting a theme park (Trust me on this)
  • Don't schedule your session on a travel day - Depending on where you are staying during your visit,
  • Keep the weather in mind and dress for the weather.  For those not familiar with Central Florida weather, we have very hot and humid summers.  Also, it can rain at any time in the summer afternoons, but this rain typically subsides quickly.  This means bring an umbrella!  Read my complete guide on what to wear for portraits in Orlando
  • We are known for our mosquitoes.  Make sure to bring bug spray if we are shooting outdoors!

These small details make a big difference in how your photos turn out.

Frequently Asked Questions - ORLANDO VACATION PHOTOGRAPHY

How much does an Orlando vacation photographer cost?

The cost of hiring an Orlando vacation photographer depends on the session length, package, and number of images included. Most sessions include professionally edited digital photos delivered through a private online gallery. I offer different packages so families can choose the option that best fits their trip.

Where do vacation photo sessions take place in Orlando?

Vacation photography sessions typically take place at scenic outdoor locations and resort areas rather than inside theme parks. Popular spots include parks, lakeside locations, and Disney resort properties that provide beautiful backdrops and a more relaxed environment.

Can we take photos inside Disney World or Universal Studios?

Professional photography is not permitted inside most theme parks without special authorization. Specifically, Disney does not allow outside professional photography inside Disney Parks, whereas Universal does. However, sessions at nearby resort locations offer similar aesthetics with more space, better lighting, and a more comfortable experience for families.

What should we wear for our Orlando vacation photos?

I recommend wearing coordinated outfits with neutral tones, soft colors, and lightweight fabrics. Avoid busy patterns and bright neon colors. After booking, I provide guidance to help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully in Florida’s natural light.

How long does a vacation photo session last?

Most Orlando vacation photography sessions last between 45 minutes and one hour. This provides enough time for a variety of poses and candid moments while keeping the session relaxed and enjoyable.

When should we schedule our vacation photo session?

It’s best to schedule your session early in your trip. This allows flexibility in case weather needs to be rescheduled and ensures you don’t feel rushed later in your vacation.

Do you help with posing if we feel awkward in photos?

Absolutely. Even though lifestyle photography is natural and candid, I provide gentle direction and prompts throughout the session so you never feel unsure about what to do. My goal is to help you feel relaxed and comfortable so authentic moments happen naturally.
